Swinging

Charlotte Anne and I went to the park to play for the first time. We live about 3/4 mile from Overton Park... which is awesome! I was thinking of all of the fun things CA could do at the park. Clearly I haven't been to a park in a while because the only thing for a baby that can't walk on unsteady ground is the swing. Thank goodness she loved the swing - LOVED the swing! It took her about 5 minutes to figure out how it worked. She wanted to look at her feet / the ground, so she kept sliding around. However, once she realized what was going on, she had a huge smile plastered on her face.

She could only handle swinging for about 20 minutes - so our part time was cut short. Regardless, I am thankful for a day in January that was warm enough for the park and I can't wait for spring and summer to wear this place out!!

Sundays

We are currently on the tour de churches in Birmingham... every week, heading out to a new church in search of our future church family. We remember this time in Memphis - it look us 1 year to find Kirby Woods, but it was well worth the wait. Good or bad - KWBC upped our expectations in a church. I think I can speak for both L and me (actually, he gets no voice because he complains I don't update the blog, but he refuses to write anything himself) - we really miss KW... the great biblical sermons, the truth based lessons, the awesome friends and fun fellowship. Plus, when we dropped CA off at the nursery, she didn't scream.

Anyway, we know the Lord has a special place for us in Bham and we are super excited to find it! Thanks to all of our friends for the welcoming invites to visit your churches. We still have a lot on our list, but we plan on getting to all of them!

Charlotte Anne isn't thrilled to be stuck in a new nursery each week... she grips on to her daddy every time we get near. I think in the picture below she is pulling out all of her tricks to sucker him into staying with her. Such a daddy's little princess.

Secret Nap Weapon

Charlotte Anne was invited to her 1st birthday party... Happy 4th to her sweet Cousin, Caroline!! The theme was candy and it was so cute! CA had her first cupcake and, of course, she was in heaven. She didn't want to try it, so we just smashed it on her face. Once she realized what she had, she wouldn't let it out of her sight!

The sugar kicked in - and we only gave her about 10% of the cupcake - and she was wild. Funniest part was that it only lasted about 10 minutes and then she took a 3 hour nap. Cupcakes, my secret nap weapon???

Hello Blog

I had decided to give up the blogging all together - if you couldn't tell from my 5 week absence, but I found that 5 minutes of spare time I was looking for to get it all done. Hello 5:40 am. The past 5 weeks have been crazy... we moved into our new home, we finished renovating our new home while living in it (even though we said we would never do that again), we celebrated Christmas and New Years, traveled to Brazil for 7 days and spent all of our free time training for our upcoming race. Coupled with a really really really bad internet connection until last week... and you can see why I didn't want to blog.

However, like it or not, I'M BACK. Charlotte Anne is about to celebrate her 1st birthday, L and I are about to run 66 miles in the Andes Mountains and I still haven't posted any pics of this house. So, I've got some serious catching up to do. :)
